Becky Crew
Becky has experience working as a counsellor with both young people and adults with a variety of different issues. Working as a counsellor in a primary school setting, Becky understands that in these times of uncertainty and fear, it is easy for a child to feel overwhelmed by their thoughts and feelings. She believes that every child is an individual with their own personality and needs, and will tailor her sessions around those needs using child-friendly techniques such as play, art, crafts and talking.
Becky offers a safe space, providing support to each client and offering help to understand their experiences. She will work alongside the child to uncover their feelings and the underlying causes and triggers with the aim of helping them explore these. Becky will help develop strategies that can enable them to be able to cope with these emotions and deal with them in healthy ways.
Becky has a BA (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy, Diplomas in both person-centred therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, a Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People's Mental Health and additional qualifications in Counselling Children and Young People. Lisa Sheppard
Lisa Sheppard has been counselling children, adolescents, and adults for almost a decade. Her work is integrative, combining aspects of person-centred, cognitive behavioural and expressive therapies to assess, engage and work toward a resolution based on the client's needs.
Lisa's aim is to assist clients in defining their goals and create a supportive and collaborative partnership that facilitates growth, change, relief, and self-fulfilment. Lisa has a particular interest in sandplay therapy. Sandplay is a creative, expressive, and nonverbal therapeutic intervention that can be used with clients of all ages.
Clients are invited to create a three-dimensional picture in a sand tray utilising miniature figurines, symbols, and objects. These pictures will often reflect the clients 'inner world' - thoughts, feelings, concepts, beliefs, concerns, experiences, and trauma.
Sandplay can bring the unconscious into conscious awareness and provides clients with the opportunity to attain self-awareness, resolve conflict and challenge their obstacles.
